Jonah Casper

Jonah Casper joined the city of Helen as the Building and Zoning Administrator on February 27th, 2023. He previously worked for the city of Suwanee as the Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer. As Building and Zoning Administrator, he is responsible for all duties regarding construction of both new and existing structures within the city limits. This includes carefully inspecting said structures as well as enforcing the city's ordinances. He is also the secretary of the Planning, Design, and Review Board (PDRB). The PDRB reviews any signs, plan submittals, or special event permits submitted to the city for approval. The scope of the PDRB is to keep Helen as visitor friendly as possible, while promoting businesses within the city limits for customers to experience.

Jonah was raised here in White County in the Shoal Creek community. He attended White County High School and after graduation, worked in several construction trades including electrical and HVAC. After a number of years working in and around the Atlanta area, he decided to join the United States Air Force. He served in the USAF for 4 years at Offutt AFB, Nebraska as a Hydraulic Systems Specialist for the RC-135 airframe. Upon separating from the USAF, Jonah decided to move back to White County and pursue a career as a Building Inspector.

Jonah is excited to work and live in the same area he grew up, and plans to spend the majority of his professional career with the City of Helen.
